MIDDLEBURY, Conn — Quassy Amusement Park is asking for the public's help to name a new ride that will be making its debut in April.

In a release Monday, a spokesperson described the ride as a "new spinning family coaster" that "features a thrilling figure-eight track design with cars that rotate as they glide along the course, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for guests of all ages."

"With its colorful, Quassy-exclusive custom blue and yellow paint job, this ride is destined to become a fan favorite," the spokesperson said.

The park is welcoming ideas from the public with a "Name the Ride Contest." Anyone who is interested and above the age of 18 can participate by following Quassy Amusement Park on Facebook and Instagram, tagging one or more friends they would "love to bring to Quassy," and submitting a name suggestion through the contest form here.

The deadline to enter the contest is Feb. 28. A panel of judges will review the submissions and choose a winning name to be announced on March 10.

The contestant who submits the winning name will have "official naming rights" to the coaster, exclusive access to the ride's grand opening event and four combos passes to Quassy Amusement and Waterpark, along with free parking, according to the spokesperson.

Quassy Amusement Park will also see the debut of the Aladdin Wave Swinger, which the spokesperson described as an "intricately handcrafted swing ride imported from the Netherlands designed by Wooddesign Amusement Rides."

"Replacing the Yo-Yo swing, the Aladdin Wave Swinger will serve as a stunning new centerpiece of the park, dazzling guests with its ornate design," the spokesperson said.

Eric Anderson, president of Quassy Amusement Park, noted that "this year is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years in Quassy's history."

"We're eager to see our guests' reactions to both of these incredible new rides," Anderson said.
