Daytona Lagoon, central Florida’s premiere family entertainment center and waterpark, introduced its new yeti mascot, Sunny, to the public today, March 19. The ceremony was attended by the local non-profits Every Kid Swims and 100+ Women Who Care, Shelly of the Daytona Tortugas as well as water park guests who were all eager to meet Daytona Beach’s newest resident.

What:

In collaboration with Every Kid Swims, 30 local foster children and their families were some of the first guests to meet Sunny.  Daytona Lagoon hosted the families for a swimming demonstration before the park opened.  The foster families also got to stay and enjoy complimentary admission for a day of fun at Daytona Lagoon. Every Kid Swims was also presented with a fundraising check from 100+ Women Who Care to support Every Kid Swims’ mission of teaching water safety for at-risk foster children.

Every Kid Swims, formally known as Urban Surf 4 Kids, is a unique outreach organization that works with orphan and foster kids. Using water sports as a catalyst, they teach kids how to swim, have fun in the water surfing and then give back to their communities and neighborhoods through local service projects.

“We are so grateful for the warm welcome that Sunny received from our Daytona Beach family,” says Tyler Currie, general manager of Daytona Lagoon, “Most importantly, we are proud to support the crucial mission of Every Kid Swims and have fun while we do it. Today’s ceremony was the perfect embodiment of Daytona Lagoon’s mission of providing a safe place to relax and have fun with family and friends while also giving back to the community.”
