Initiative encourages move toward two-wheeled commutes
Casual Friday for the employees of Dion Marketing means tennis shoes and athletic gear — the only suitable attire for a recently launched initiative to “Bike the Beaches” on their way to and from work once weekly.
Coined “Active Friday” by the Dion Marketing team, the pledge encourages the group to start the day with a healthy activity and a positive attitude. However, it is just one component of their new initiative. Bike the Beaches works to integrate bike riding into daily life at the beach for transportation, recreation and physical exercise, according to the company. The ultimate goal, said Julie Dion, president of Dion Marketing, is to get other Beaches businesses involved.
