Jacksonville couple helps 25 volunteer Operation Smile missions on World Kindness Day
During a time when kindness is needed more than ever, Operation Smile is highlighting some of its amazing volunteers. Including two names that might be familiar locally: Marijose and Rodney Kapunan from Jacksonville, Florida.
Marijose and Rodney are both front line health care workers in Jacksonville, Florida, and volunteer nurses with Operation Smile.
Learning that a family member received surgery from Operation Smile initially inspired Marijose and Rodney Kapunan to become volunteers. Rodney grew up poor in the slums of Manila and loves the opportunity to travel the world and give back to his country and community. Rodney was inspired to become a nurse because of his love of helping other people.
Marijose is encouraged and touched by the outcomes she sees working in the operating rooms for Operation Smile missions. Seeing the before and after firsthand has motivated her to continue her volunteer work.
Together, Marijose and Rodney have delivered care to children on more than 25 Operation Smile medical missions.
